What It Does for Landlords
The LTB publishes the notices a landlord gives a tenant, such as the N4 for unpaid rent, and the applications a landlord files, such as the L1 to evict for unpaid rent and collect what is owed.2 A landlord cannot evict without an LTB order: the Act has the landlord apply to the Board for an order terminating the tenancy and evicting the tenant.1
Applications are filed through the Tribunals Ontario Portal. The LTB’s fee table lists $201, or $186 through the portal, for the L1, L2, L3, L9 and L10 applications.2
Where to Get Answers
The LTB gives information about rights and responsibilities under the Act but not legal advice. Ontario’s standard lease guide lists its line, 1-888-332-3234 toll-free, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.3 For a specific dispute, talk to a paralegal or lawyer.
This page is general information about Ontario law, not legal advice.
